- Perlite is a volcanic and glassymineral and contains water particles inside its structure.
- During the production, perlite is heated up to 800-1200°C at special ovens and due to flash evaporating water particles inside it pops like popcorn and forms a high porosity granular structure. At the end of this process it expands up to 4-20 times of its volume and its density decreases.
- Thanks to the porous and volcanic structure of expanded perlite, it can be used in many fields mainly in construction, aggregate, horticulture and filtering.
- While its benefits and fields of use are still being discovered, 65% of the reserves of this mineral is in the territory of Turkey.
